- What are the power outlets? Power outlets are 120 volts (the same as in the United States).
- What is the drinking age? The drinking age is 18 (though not strictly enforced). Note that alcohol is not allowed to be served or sold between midnight and 9:00 a.m.
- Do locals speak English? Many younger Tanitians speak fluent English, but very little is spoken in rural areas or by older residents.
- Is there a hospital? Yes, there is one hospital with many multilingual employees, plus several smaller clinics.
- Is the island safe? Violent crime is very rare. As tourism increases, there are some reports of petty crimes like pickpocketing.
- What currency is used? Taniti uses the U.S. dollar, but many businesses accept euros, yen, and major credit cards. Several banks facilitate currency exchange.
- What about national holidays? Taniti enjoys a large number of national holidays. Many attractions and restaurants will be closed on these days, so plan accordingly.
